2011: Daisuke Takahashi lands a surprise quad in his SP and wins; 17 year old Yuzuru Hanyu makes the podium for the first time and 14 year old Shoma Uno competes at his first senior Nationals

2012: Yuzuru Hanyu beats an almost perfect Daisuke Takahashi for his first National title

2013: The toughest competition (#bloodbath) in history. Six men are trying to make it to the Olympics.Tatsuki Machida shines, Yuzuru Hanyu wins his second title while Daisuke Takahashi and Nobunari Oda compete at their last Nationals. Machida, Hanyu and Takahashi are chosen as the representatives for the Sochi Olympics

2014: The abrupt and emotion filled retirement of Tatsuki Machida; Daisuke Takahashi comments: “I was shocked [by his retirement] because I thought he would go on to excel.”

2015: Yuzuru Hanyu wins his 4th consecutive National title
